Day 145: One thing I learned today…

I am enrolled in Health Mindset Coaching Certification with Kasey Jo Orvidas. Each week I continue to learn so much from her curriculum.

When engaging in habits, there is not much of a thought process going on. The prefrontal cortex is turned off and the habit, either good or bad is kind of on autopilot. Not much effort comes into play, not much awareness comes into play. Just basically going with the motions.

For good habits, this is great because we don’t have to think much about it, we just do things like wash our hands and brush our teeth.

On the flip side, if there is a habit of eating food into front of the television, typically not much thought it going into it. And there is a good chance for over consumption. So what does this mean? Maybe try switching up what you are doing? Be aware of what you are going to eat for the day, where you are going to have your meals, and be present and engaged with eating. Chewing and enjoying each bit prior to thinking about stabling your fork into the next bite.

What are you doing on autopilot? How can you make a change?
