Day 138: One thing I learned today…
A waffle iron should only be for waffles…
I’ve seen so many variations of different types of waffles out there and today I decided to give protein waffles a try. You take breakfast sausage, finely chopped broccoli, and a few other ingredients and stick the meat patties in the waffle iron. Okay, don’t get me wrong, they tasted pretty good but here is the issue. I have a Belgian Waffle maker which you rotate. Its actually one of my favorite wedding presents to this day. Also fun fact, when you flip one over there is another waffle iron on the other side so you can make 2 at one time! Practical and efficient. It hit me as soon as I put the waffles in and started to rotate the machine. Grease was pouring out of the side. Smoke was everywhere. Even though I greased it with coconut oil, the little pieces of broccoli were burnt to the inside. I am not sure what happened but needless to say, I spend a good hour+ trying to save it. Hopefully it is not ruined. I used a toothpick, q-tips, toothbrush, sponge, rag, rubber scraper, plastic grill cleaner- everything I could think of. Over the past ten years I have not had an issue with it.
I started to get frustrated but realized it is not worth it. I went through all the things I was able to accomplish and things I am grateful for for today.
· I was able to do some work outside
· I got all the other dishes and some laundry done
· I have a meeting get canceled so I had some more time free up in my day
· I was able to prep dinner
· I am grateful for the beautiful day
· having time to sit and read
· Listening to the river
· and all my other kitchen gadgets :)
In the past something like this would have pissed me off and I would have allowed to to interfere with the rest of my day.
How do you cope when you do something silly?
