Day 133: One thing I learned today…
In a study published in 2010 by Anne Thorndike, simple environmental changed were made which impacted choice. This was referred to a Choice Architecture Intervention. Water bottles were added to all 5 refrigerators in a cafeteria rather than just two (which were not centrally located). In addition, 5 baskets of bottled water were placed throughout the cafeteria close to food stations.
Soda sales decreased by 11% and there was a 25% increase in the sale of water bottles.
What do you drink more?
